The capacity of the Paraguayan Government to welcome refugees from the war in Ukraine

One of the biggest consequences of wars is displacement of numerous masses, who look for a safe place to live, a refuge. This research focuses on the study of the capacity of the Paraguayan State to welcome refugees who were forced to leave their home countries, due to the war in Ukraine in 2022. To achieve this, national and international legislation that governs the rights of refugees were analyzed, adding the help of authorities and refugees in the national territory. The methodology used in this research is qualitative and descriptive, with interviews to experts and refugees. The results show the need for greater participation of the Paraguayan State in the development of public policies to allow Ukrainian refugees to fully enjoy their rights in health, work and education.
