Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published nor has it been submitted for consideration by any other journal.
  • The submission file is in compatible Microsoft Word format.
  • Wherever possible, URLs are provided for references.
  • The text has 1.5 spacing; 12 point font size; italics are used instead of underlining (except in URLs); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed in the appropriate places in the text, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author's Guidelines, which appear in About the journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring anonymous review should be followed.

Author Guidelines

Manuscript application

All the texts of the manuscripts to be sent to the journal ACADEMO Revista de Investigación en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades, must be written in Spanish without spelling or grammar mistakes, respecting the following presentation format.

Manuscript Submission Format

  1. The text must have an interlinear space of 1.5, upper margins 3 cm, lower 2 cm, left 3 cm and right 2 cm, A4 size sheet, in compatible Microsoft Word format.
  2. The font size will be 12 points in Times New Roman format.
  3. All illustrations, graphics, figures and tables will be within the text on the corresponding site, they must be duly cited and with the corresponding captions.
  4. Citations and bibliographic references will be presented following the standards of the American Psychological Association (APA).
  5. The manuscript must be accompanied by a letter from the authors.

Structure of the manuscripts:

  • Title: clear and concise, no more than 12 words. Only the initial capital letter will be written, it must be in bold, and without using a final period. It should not contain footer calls or asterisks. It must accompany the English translation.
  • Author or authors: present the full name and surname of each of the authors, include email and the ORCID ID of each one of them.
  • Institutional affiliation: full name of the institution to which the authors belong, the city and the country.
  • Corresponding author: define the corresponding author and his email.
  • Funding Source: In the case of a research report with funding, the data of the research project to which the article belongs must be mentioned: project number, year and source of funding.
  • Conflicts of interest: Indicate whether or not the authors have potential conflicts of interest to declare.
  • Date of submission: include the date of submission of the manuscript.
  • Abstract: include an informative and balanced synopsis of what has been done and what has been found with a length of 150-200 words, in Spanish and English.
  • Keywords: include 3 to 5 keywords in Spanish and English. For the selection of these keywords use the UNESCO Thesaurus. The UNESCO Thesaurus is a controlled and structured list of terms for thematic analysis and search of documents and publications in the fields of education, culture, natural sciences, social and human sciences, communication and information, available at http: / /databases.unesco.org/thessp/
  • Article development: for original articles, research results, the Introduction, Methodology, Results and Discussion structure must be used with a maximum length of 20 pages, diagrams, graphics or photographs (11.5 cm wide at least and a resolution of 300 dpi) in a widely available graphic format (jpg, tif, gif, ...)

In the Introduction, the following aspects should be clearly and precisely included:

  • Reasons and the scientific basis for the research
  • Author's intention, thesis or hypothesis of the work
  • Background information, with relevant and updated references
  • Clearly state the specific objectives of the investigation

The Methodology section should include all information about the study design, the context how the study was carried out, participants, variables, data sources, measures, biases, sample size, statistical methods.

The Results section should contain the analysis of the most relevant data collected, the main findings. The data must be presented only in texts or tables or figures, two more forms of presentation of the same data will not be accepted.

In the Discussion, present the key points according to the objectives, provide a global and prudent interpretation of the results considering objectives, limitations, multiplicity of analyzes, results of similar studies and other relevant empirical tests, the possibility of generalizing the results can be discussed and the limitations of the study. The points to take into account can be:

  • Research strengths and weaknesses (critical).
  • Open questions and probable solutions and / or applications.
  • Evaluation and implications of the results or findings of the work.
  • Hypothesize an explanation of the results.
  • All citations in the text must include their full references at the end of the text. The bibliographic references must be written, following the norm of the American Psychological Association (APA). Only those cited in the text should appear in the list of references.
  • For the other contributions (articles of analysis and review), the structure of the body of the manuscript will be defined by the author, however they must maintain the presentation of the preliminary pages such as title, authors, abstract, keywords, introduction and bibliographic references.

Manuscript evaluation:

All manuscripts received in the journal will receive a first review by the Editorial Committee to verify the thematic relevance for the journal and compliance with the publication standards. If the manuscript qualifies positively, the Editorial Committee will proceed to screen the manuscripts by the software to detect plagiarism.

Software to detect

The journal uses the Turnitin software to detect plagiarism, if the article passes this control system, the Editorial Committee will notify the authors that their manuscript has been received and it will be submitted to the editorial process or rejection of the same as the case may be.

External evaluators

The manuscript that enters the editorial process will be submitted to the evaluation of two external reviewers, specialists in the area. The review will be carried out anonymously, both for the reviewers and for the authors. Reviewers will have the option to rate the manuscript with the following classification:

1) publish

2) Publish when the author makes the adjustments made in the recommendations indicated by the evaluators,

3) Evaluate, rewrite content and submit to a next call for new evaluation,

4) Don't post.

In case of discrepancy between reviewers, the manuscript will be submitted to a third reviewer. All communications regarding the manuscript will be sent to the corresponding author.

The time from submission to publication is approximately 25 weeks. This includes the entire editorial process (receipt, verification, peer review, up to acceptance or rejection), from manuscript submission through the OJS system to completion.
